Citamark vs Wix
Wix and Citamark solve the website problem with different models. Wix hands you templates and tools to build it yourself, fast and at low cost. We design, build, and host custom sites wired for conversion, search, and AI discovery, so the site works as hard as the rest of your marketing.
The short version
About Wix, fairly.
Wix is a DIY website builder, and it is good at what it promises. It is fast, affordable, and template driven, so a business can get online quickly without hiring anyone. The model has a built-in tradeoff: the owner does the work, including SEO and tracking setup. That is a fair trade at the earliest stage, and a heavy one once the site needs to produce revenue.
| Dimension | Wix | Citamark |
|---|---|---|
| Model | DIY builder. You customize a template. | Custom build. We design, build, and host it. |
| Who does the work | You do. Design, content, SEO, upkeep. | Senior hands do it. You approve, we ship. |
| SEO and tracking | Self managed. You set both up yourself. | Wired in from day one, including AI search. |
| Ownership | Yours. You built it and you run it. | You own the site, domain, data, and tracking. |
| Pricing structure | Monthly subscription plans. | Not listed here. We cover it on the diagnostic call. |
| Reporting | You set up tracking and read it yourself. | Reporting you can read, tied to conversions. |
| When you leave | DIY model. Whatever comes next is your project. | Everything is portable. Nothing leaves if we do. |
The longer version
Three differences that decide it.
The subscription buys software, not hours
Wix's plan buys you the tool. The hours still come from somewhere, and that somewhere is you or someone on your team. Design decisions, page copy, SEO setup, tracking, updates after every product change, all of it is owner labor the plan does not include. Say you run a shop with a counter to cover; every hour spent wrestling a template is an hour the business does not get back. We flip that trade: senior hands do the build, you review and approve, and your hours go back to the work only you can do.
A template launches. It does not engineer conversion.
Templates are built to look right for the widest range of businesses, which is the opposite of being built around your buyer taking one action. Conversion work is specific: page structure that matches how your customer decides, forms that remove friction, tracking that shows which pages produce calls and which just collect visits. On Wix that work is possible, but it is your project, and the builder has no opinion on any of it. We start there instead. Every page gets one job, and the reporting shows whether it is doing that job.
In the DIY model, nobody watches your numbers
Wix earns its subscription by keeping the site online and the editor working, and it does both well. But nobody at Wix reads your numbers, notices the contact page stopped converting, or flags that your service pages are invisible to AI assistants. In the DIY model, the only person watching whether the site produces revenue is you, week after week. Our model puts us on that hook, and reporting tied to conversions lets you check our work any week you like.
Why teams pick us
The model is the difference.
Built to convert
Every page is engineered around one action, the call, the form, the purchase. Design serves conversion, not the other way around, and tracking proves what works.
Found by Google and by AI
We handle SEO and GEO, generative engine optimization, which means getting found when buyers ask AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude for recommendations. DIY builders leave both jobs to you.
You own everything
The site, the domain, the analytics, the automations. It is all in your name from day one. If we ever part ways, nothing leaves with us.
Part of a working system
Your website plugs into the same layer that runs reporting and paid media. Landing pages, tracking, and campaigns speak the same language, so results compound instead of living in silos.
When Wix is the better fit
Pick Wix if you are very early, the budget is tiny, and you have time to do the work yourself. A template site you launch now beats a custom site you cannot afford yet. Starting scrappy is a fine way to start.
When Citamark is the better fit
Pick us when the website has a revenue job to do. If you want conversion engineered in, search and AI discovery handled, and nobody on your team free to run a website, a custom build is the faster path. That is usually the point where DIY stops paying for itself.
Switching without breakage
If you move, nothing gets dropped.
Your Wix site stays up while we build
Nothing goes dark. The current site keeps taking traffic and leads while the new one comes together on a staging link you can click through. When it is ready, we point your domain at the new site and the old plan can wind down.
We audit before we rebuild
Wix sites do not export as code, so the move is a rebuild, and rebuilds done blind lose things. We start with a website audit: which pages earn traffic, which rankings are worth protecting, what tracking exists today. Redirects get mapped page by page so the search value you built does not reset to zero.
Everything lands in your name
Domain, hosting, analytics, tracking, forms. All of it is set up under your accounts from day one, not ours. You leave one platform without walking into a different kind of lock-in.

ReadQuestions we get
Straight answers.
Is Wix a bad choice for a business website?
No. Wix is fast, affordable, and easy, and at the earliest stage that is exactly right. The limits show up later, when you need conversion engineering, deeper SEO, and tracking that ties the site to revenue. Different tools for different stages.
What is GEO and why does it matter?
GEO stands for generative engine optimization: structuring your site so AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude can find you and recommend you. Buyers increasingly ask these tools instead of searching. We build for that from day one, alongside traditional SEO.
Can you move my existing Wix site to a custom build?
We treat it as a fresh build rather than a migration. That is how we make sure the new site is wired for conversion, search, and AI discovery from the ground up. Your content and your domain come with you, and we protect the search value your pages have earned. We start with a website audit so nothing that works gets lost.
Who owns the website Citamark builds?
You do. The site, the domain, the analytics, and every automation behind it are in your name. If we part ways, all of it stays with you. That is the standard for everything we build.
My Wix plan just renewed. Does the build have to wait?
No. The Wix site stays live through the build, so the overlap is on purpose, not wasted. Once the new site is up and redirects are in place, you can downgrade or cancel Wix on your own schedule. Timing the project to a renewal date usually costs more in delayed results than the overlap ever does.
What happens to my blog posts, form entries, and analytics history?
Posts and pages get rebuilt into the new site, so the content comes with you. Form entries should be exported from Wix before the account closes, and we flag that in the audit checklist so it does not get missed. History in Wix's built-in analytics dashboard stays behind, which is one reason the new site runs analytics in your name from day one. If you were already running Google Analytics on the domain, that history is yours and carries forward.
